I price on the value I bring to your business, not on hours spent
Hourly pricing is a broken model and it’s unfair to you. We’ll agree a price that represents the value of the problem I’m solving. The price will be a small portion of the value you receive, so the return on what you spend with me is clear.
The price is a fraction of the value
What a brand and website is worth depends on the business it’s attached to.
For a sole trader, it might be an increase in jobs per month. For a small business of forty people it could be a 5% increase in revenue on a £1M business.
Both of those represent a different commercial value, so charging the same for each would result in one over paying and the other getting a cheap deal. That’s an unfair model.
How much are you losing?
A brand and website isn’t something you just have, it represents an investment that you should get a return on. If a new brand and website generates £100,000 revenue then not having it means you’re losing that revenue for every day you don’t have it. The question is would you pay £10,000 to make £100,000?
Before we talk price, we work out what a website is worth to your business.
Working out the number
- 01
A business diagnostic first
First we work out where your business comes from now, who your ideal customers might be and what the potential opportunities are. This forms the research that feeds into the investment estimate.
- 02
Then an estimate of what the site could bring in.
Next we estimate what numbers you want to reach and how you would get there. This includes understanding what you charge and what your capacity ceiling is with your current workforce. We also assess how many of your ideal customers there are that we could convert (market opportunity) and what the competition looks like (competitive landscape).
- 03
We agree a fixed price, in writing, before anything starts.
From the estimated generated revenue we agree a percentage that will form my price. This price represents your investment in your business coupled together with your risk profile. All future business activities are bets, it just depends how we measure the risk of achieving your goal.
A price range
Most of the time there is a number in your head and if the investment exceeds that you might think that that’s the end but it isn’t. Because of that I will often give you three investment opportunities to choose from.
Foundation
The minimum I think we would need to do to move the needle for you, anything below will be a waste of your money. This won’t achieve your desired results but it will set you on the right track.
Standard
The price that I think you would need to invest to meet your needs as discussed.
Growth
An investment in a strategy that takes you beyond your expectations. This normally involves some additional risk of infrastructure change within your business such as hiring or tools investment.
Q & A
No. The price is fixed and paid. Everything it brings in is yours, this year and every year after.
We’ll always arrive at a price that matches your risk profile.
A deposit to begin and the balance on completion. Longer projects get split into agreed stages.
Two sites can take precisely the same hours, one producing a trickle of enquiries and the other changing how the business wins work. The hours are identical. What you end up with isn’t.
